This year just went by so quickly, but it is by no means over yet! This Thursday I will be making my second trip to Argentina to see some very dear friends and rock out to Die Toten Hosen in concert. I have been extremely busy with a lot of things and this is going to be a much needed rest for me.
There will be some rainy weather but I am looking forward to the overall ambience of Buenos Aires. I am sure I will get some time in to hang out on the beach and definitely drink a few cervezas. Quilmes awaits.
In a few days I’ll be traveling to Georgia to see some friends and family members for a little less than a week. It will be a nice break from my daily routine, so I am certainly looking forward to it.
I especially can’t wait to see Athens,GA. One thing I am not looking forward to is the hot, humid weather which will almost certainly cause me to profusely sweat in a matter of minutes. I think I have become too accustomed to our cool Colorado weather which has already produced some snow on top of some of the mountains here (and it’s only August!).
Traveling and sharing ideas and experiences have been a cornerstone of my life. And to think my Argentina trip is around the corner too. It’s such a volatile world out there. Give peace a chance.
Nothing really new to report so far, but it is astonishing how fast the year can go by when you are really busy.
I am glad it has been raining in Colorado as wildfires have been present in the past few months not just here but also in Utah. I am counting down the days to Argentina. Before that I do have a short visit to Georgia (the State) in a few weeks.
It’s a cloudy day today which makes good for napping.
I am very happy to say that I will be making a return in October to Argentina to see some old friends along with making some new ones and that I will be seeing Die Toten Hosen on tour there as well. It has been five years since I have been back to Argentina, and the time has come to make a comeback to the South American country.
My last time in South America was in 2015 when I visited Machu Picchu in Peru. This time I would like to see some beloved sites around Argentina such as Patagonia, but it is yet to be determined how much time I will be able to spend in Argentina come October.
Nevertheless, it will be awesome to come back to see this awesome punk band and the wonderful Argentinian crowd sing all their German songs in perfect unison. And above all it is the people as usual that makes all these trips fun as hell.
I recently spent some time in Georgia last weekend which was nice. It was nice to see some old faces and spend some time in Athens, Georgia which I widely consider my second home.
We finally have summer weather here in Colorado and the mountains here look really pretty with a blue sky above them. I am definitely looking forward to more outdoor stuff in the coming months. Hopefully, I can go whitewater rafting some time soon.
In the meantime I’ll find other ways to enjoy this summer weather.
Well, just when I thought we were in for sunny days, another snowstorm hit Colorado. It is a partly cloudy day in Seattle, but it is obvious that Seattle’s tears just carried over to the snow in Colorado.
Chris Cornell passed away yesterday. Having grown up a teenager in the 90s, I instantly became a fan of major Seattle bands such as Cornell’s Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, and Alice in Chains. I have had the pleasure of seeing Soundgarden and Pearl Jam live in concert. I know that Seattle music legends such as Kurt Cobain, Andrew Wood, and Layne Staley are deceased, but the death of any of these icons really hits you when you have witnessed that person up close and at his craft.
Listening to the burgeoning Seattle area bands was a really big deal for a brown kid growing up in racist southeast Georgia. I always had the solace of escaping to my bedroom and cranking up the stereo to Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, and Nirvana. With all the deaths of music icons, it can seem as if a part of your childhood is slowly fading away.
I am grateful for the music of Chris Cornell and his charitable endeavors. My sincerest condolences go out to his family and friends. At least the music will always live on, and we have our memories.
But for now Seattle’s tears are masked in Colorado’s snow.
I know I don’t have any pictures to share, but that’s because I’ve been too busy actually enjoying our new sun shiny weather here in Colorado. We were rock climbing all day long yesterday and I was awake from sunrise to sunset late in the evening. A lot of brightness is all around nowadays and I am looking forward to camping soon as well.
In a few weeks I’ll be making my way to Red Rocks to check out Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers on their 40th anniversary tour. I consider myself fortunate to be able to get a ticket to the show and am counting down the days. It’s only the waiting that is the hardest part. (Yeah, I know that sounded kind of cheesy. I couldn’t resist.)
I really love Colorado sometimes because it can snow sometimes even into early May. There have been a few snow flurries recently and some colder temperatures but for the most part spring and summer weather will fully set in. I’ve already done some rock climbing this month and will be doing some more of that tomorrow as the weather will all of a sudden become warm again.
That doesn’t mean that ski season is at an end. I’ll be doing some spring skiing next weekend and probably go out on the slopes one last time before putting the ski gear away for the season. I just have to remember that I will need my skis to be tuned up and a little repaired from the hard aggressive skiing I did over these past few months. It was a lot of fun though.
Like the wise owl who recently visited me on my window sill knows, never leave a place that is truly your home. I am back in Colorado Springs where I will be doing my doctor thing in the local area and, moreover, hang out with all of my friends.
It feels great to be back and the past few months have been hectic with moving, etc. I am ready for the spring/summer weather to fully kick in so that we can get back to camping and rock climbing. I hope to get back to the form I was in before I had my rock climbing accident last May.
I don’t have any special travel plans in the near future (mainly because of all the busy stuff of the past two months) but hopefully I will get a chance to get away to somewhere special sometime this year.
Time is already starting to go by quickly. A new year always brings about excitement and the prospect of new opportunities. I am certainly ready to welcome my 37th birthday in a few weeks. Hopefully I’ll be skiing somewhere.
I also hope we can have some peace in this world (probably not going to happen, but one can dream). Anyways I am as usual glad to be in the moment and hope for more insightful moments as this new year progresses.
